In the world I created, the studio space is white, but everything outside of the studio is nothing. It is void. This is to create the feeling of life within the studio. The world behind the screen exists in the studio space and solely in the studio space. Once the camera and the lights are turned off, the world ceases to be. It can continue to exist in the space within you, as explored in my previous work, but the reality is, in the dark there is nothing.
It was during this initial exploratory drawing phase that I also developed the characters I want to play in my film.
Character A (the presenter)
Character B (the dunce)
Character C (the footballer)
the characters employ certain roles within the narrative of the world: Character A is the presenter' she knows who and what she is, and she knows what her job is. She communicates with the audience.
Characters B and C are each other's foils; character B is petulant, insolent, and churlish where character C is engaged, eager and involved. they act to question the presenter and articulate information to the audience in a secondary manner.
